Jennifer Pearcey and Jereme Watts

The Regina Technology Community welcomes local presenters Jennifer Pearcey and Jereme Watts!

Topic: SharePoint Development and Deployment Fundamentals
SharePoint development and deployment is a confusing and complex process. Creating XML files, diamond definition files, deployment scripts, and using the MakeCAB utility to tie it all together leaves opportunities for mistakes and inconsistent processes to occur. Together as Developer and Administrator, we will demonstrate the newest Visual Studio 2008 extensions for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. We will also discuss a consistent approach to creating the solution packages and ease of use through Visual Studio 2008.

Jereme, the Developer, will create a real world solution to a real world problem each of us have encountered on sites. We will demonstrate the ease with which an Administrator can deploy and activate the completed solution package. Jennifer, the Administrator, will demonstrate the transition between Developer and Administrator with a best practice approach to deploying custom SharePoint solutions, considering both production environments and disaster recovery.

Additional time has been allocated for an open question and answer session, as well as discussion of these approaches.
