Topic: Introduction to Windows Presentation Foundation and Expression Blend
Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is Microsoft’s standard framework for developing first class application software for the Windows platform. This presentation will focus on the core aspects of WPF application design. It will provide an overview of key concepts and techniques required to design a WPF application. Windows Presentation Foundation provides powerful and startling new technologies, as well as new ways of thinking about designing and programming rich client applications.
The Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) application design pattern can be used to compliment WPF’s programming model. The presentation will introduce the pattern. WPF’s new technologies and techniques as they relate to the development of eye-popping user interfaces and robust applications will be introduced. In order to facilitate the discussion, examples of WPF components will be demonstrated using both Visual Studio 2008 and Microsoft’s WPF authoring tool, Expression Blend.
Speaker:
Aaron Cook is a software architect and development lead for FCI Accelerated Solutions in Regina, Saskatchewan. He has over twelve years experience designing and developing software for a number of different industries including the Financial, Health, Industrial and Telecommunications sectors. He currently specializes in the .NET family of technologies and is hard at work developing large scale, graphically rich applications using WPF.
