The unbearable lightness of TOGAF - Tuning the Framework to streamline Architecture Development

This presentation will identify techniques for tailoring The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), version 9, to meet the needs of organizations of different types and sizes. It will examine how TOGAF can be applied to architecture projects of varying scopes and levels of detail. The presentation will also consider adaptations of the framework for use in product development and consulting engagements. Examples based on actual user experiences will be cited.

Speaker: Bill Estrem
Bill Estrem, Ph.D., President of Metaplexity and principal instructor, has been involved in the development of The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), since its inception, and serves currently as The Open Group’s Chief Examiner for all TOGAF certification. Dr. Estrem has trained over 1000 enterprise architecture practitioners and served as a professor and endowed chair on the faculty of the University of Saint Thomas Graduate School of Business, teaching for six years there in Minnesota in the MBA program. He is a master instructor with an in-depth understanding of a wide range of architectural issues and challenges.

Prior to those experiences, he served for several years as Enterprise Architect for 3M Company in Minnesota, and from that vantage point he became involved with The Open Group, and chaired the first Open Group member forum in existence.
