Topic: Refactoring to Clean Code
Refactoring is a hot topic today. Questions still arise as to "Who should refactor?", "When should one refactor?", and of course "Why refactor?". In addition there are multiple opinions on what is considered "good code".

Greg will attempt to answer these questions and present some of the industry leaders' thoughts on this. The presentation will consist of two parts; firstly a definition of what is considered "Clean Code" by industry experts and then secondly how to use common Refactoring techniques to get your code to this state. Greg will illustrate these techniques with several examples.

While all of the examples presented will be in Java, this presentation will be interesting to all developers who want to improve there existing programming skills.

Speaker: Greg Hutchinson
Greg Hutchinson is currently the Principal Application Developer at Farm Credit Canada. He has been developing software for almost 30 years using technologies ranging from 8085 Assembler and C to Smalltalk, and Java. More recently, his primary focus has been incorporating best practice methodologies to streamline the software development process, increase the productivity of developers, and improve code quality while also making it more stable and robust.
